Nerves

Numerous nerve cords run through the chest. Here too, benign and malignant tumors can develop – such as nerve or nerve sheath tumors (gangliomas, schwannomas, neuromas). These are best removed using high-precision surgery using the daVinci surgical robot.

Although benign in nature, the quality of life can be severely limited by uncontrolled flushing of the face (so-called erythrophobia) – sometimes in combination with excessive sweating in the head, hands and/or in the armpit area. The cause here is an overreaction or 'overreactivity' of the nervous system, using a minimally invasive surgical procedure using 'clipping' the corresponding nerve fibers can provide relief. This is referred to as the so-called thoracoscopic sympathectomy for palmar (+/- axillary) hyperhidrosis and/or erythrophobia.
