Visceral Surgery

Visceral surgery concerns operations on the intestines, such as the liver, pancreas and the entire gastrointestinal tract. Through pathological alterations, tumors and inflammations can emerge in those areas.

The visceral surgeon (also abdominal surgeon) can either cure a lot of these diseases or remove their symptoms. Such operational interventions, especially those concerning cancer, are always discussed in so-called Tumor Boards to determine the most appropriate method of treatment.
